About big end bearing sets
Big end bearings, also called con rod bearings, sit between each connecting rod and the crankshaft journal. They carry the full load of combustion on every stroke and rely on a constant film of oil, so worn or damaged shells usually show up as knocking, low oil pressure or scored journals. A big end bearing set contains the shells for every connecting rod, so all cylinders can be renewed at the same time. Bearing sets come in standard size and undersize versions for crankshafts that have been reground, so check the size stamped on the old shells or the crankshaft grind before ordering.
Check the part number before you order
Manufacturer names and part numbers are listed for reference, to help you find the right replacement part. Compare the number on your old part, or your engine or alternator model and serial number, with the details above. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the old part and its number and we will confirm the match before you buy.
