About main bearing sets
Main bearings support the crankshaft in the engine block and keep it running true while the engine turns. They are lubricated under pressure, so worn main bearings often show up as low oil pressure, knocking from the bottom end or excessive crankshaft movement. A main bearing set contains the upper and lower shells for each main journal, and is usually supplied in standard size and undersize versions for reground crankshafts. Check the size marked on the old shells, or confirm the crankshaft grind with your engineer, before ordering.
Check the part number before you order
Manufacturer names and part numbers are listed for reference, to help you find the right replacement part. Compare the number on your old part, or your engine or alternator model and serial number, with the details above. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the old part and its number and we will confirm the match before you buy.
