Description

This is a compact and high quality automatic voltage regulator. It needs to be installed inside the alternator or generator so that the cover can provide I20 minimum total protection. The alternator with Shunt excitation is self excited with the R220 automatic voltage regulator. The regulator monitors the exciter excitation current as a function of the alternator output voltage. The AVR has been designed to protect equipment from overheating damage that can occur when there are fluctuations in voltage. Fluctuations in voltage are unavoidable and electronic equipment is particularly sensitive to voltage surges. The voltage on any distribution line will vary through the day as large consumers of power switch machines on and off. The damage done to equipment is not limited to cost of replacement but also production loss and increased scrap and rework costs.
